My first DC Blogger Meet Up

December 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

Actually my first experience with Meet Up all together. I had a great time talking with everyone. People came from all different backgrounds with various interests but one common thread combining all of our interests, blogging. More than just blogging though I think, perhaps a keen awareness that the Web is for us. That it is time to create a global conversation make the Web about collaboration, people and knowledge, instead of shopping (not to say I don’t use it for shopping) just wish that was a small, small part of it.

ANWR Drilling, when in doubt tie to defense spending

December 20th, 2005 · No Comments

Ugh, so the House passed the ANWR drilling bill, the GOP tucked it very nicely inside a defense spending bill, one that also cut many social services.

Is anyone awake out there…they are cutting all our social services, educational funding, wrecking the environment, but constantly bulking our defense spending, are we Sparta??

We got to put the brakes on and start re-thinking this, it’s in the papers all the time how we are falling behind in the sciences, so why don’t we invest in education?? No we cut it? I am going to say it again, let’s invest in ourselves and our future, I am not making a quick buck on any defense spending or the oil money in Alaska, are you? Then demand better, why can’t we lead the world in science and technological innovation again? Let’s put our best foot forward and solve the energy crisis in an environmentally sustainable way, it’s possible, so let’s do it.

Check out this post from Daily Kos, it’s a great rip on the GOP for their ever so inept ability to be leaders in a leadership role.
