I just read about Feedbuddy on Read/Write Web. It is a “social network” where buddies are made by shared feeds. However as Read/Write Web notes:
In practice, however, Feedbuddy isn’t much of a social network. The site is dead simple, and probably shouldn’t be categorized as a social network at all. It’s more of a rudimentary matchmaking service.
To start at Feedbuddy you simply upload your OPML file or add feeds manually to your “feed profile.” You also have to enter a contact method, either your Skype name, Xing profile URL, or web site address. This is important because the site doesn’t actually have any interaction features, so if you want to contact any of your matches (”feedbuddies”), you’ll need to do so through one of those three methods.
It was easy to upload my feeds via an OPML file downloaded through my Bloglines account. I was matched up with a few buddies but a little tired to search their feeds to see if there are any worth exploring. I think this is a great idea, I am always looking for new, different and better sources of information. However, I have to agree with the good folks at Read/Write Web that the communications tools to interact with your buddies is extremely limited.
That said I was buddy 143, so the “network” is still pretty small, why not join in and see what happens?
