After a short break post triathlon season 1 (and battle with allergies/laryngitis/bronchitis) I am back to training and the first major race of my season will be the Cowtown Marathon in Fort Worth, TX (if you are in TX in February I hope to see you there). Running is not my strongest suit so I really want to concentrate on correcting my form as I build endurance and speed. The long training runs will be perfect for working on my foot strike and posture. This should help me as I start my 2010 race season.
But, I meant to write about shoes….So,since my running shoes from last season were in need of replacement I decided to make a break with my trusted brooks and try a new brand (to me at least) that I was introduced to during the Nation’s Triathlon expo–Kahru. I purchased the Fulcrum Fluid Ride over the Fast Fulcrum Ride with the thinking that over the next few months my running is more about distance and form than speed–so the bit of extra padding in the sole seemed like a good choice for a trainer. Also, I think the shoe looks pretty cool. I had my first run in them last night and they felt good but tonight will be a better test with an outdoor 5 miler.
If you are looking to try a new shoe I’d say go for it, if you have been wearing Kahru leave a comment and let me know your experience.
